Nomadic Tumbleweed by emerging artist Marnie Hutchinson examines emergent trends of population shifts. The mixed media installation explores how individuals search for belonging whilst experiencing a rapidly changing sense of identity. As population’s shift these stories of change become lived realities as individuals gain a sense of inclusion in challenging circumstances.
Artist Statement
In space through time I cant quite find where I belong,
in what reality of unseen areas or in between.
Daily repetition disintegrates noise
and these fine lines follow me.
Floating at the mercy of myself,
A sense of knowing, but not knowing.
Passing through landscapes, latitudes of looking constantly
searching for something deep and hidden.
Blood that weeps in my veins of journeys that came before,
that was given to me and I have given on with no new knowledge.
An undefined tension building beyond my time here.
This beautiful strangeness of acceptance seems to be the hardest journey.
An inner feeling that has always been with you or a
mountain rising before you that invades every dream.
Like nomadic tumbleweed
I just go on...
