Akin illustrates contemporary printmaking by remote Far North Queensland Indigenous artists from Lockhart River Arts in Eastern Cape York, Mirndiyan Gununa Art in the Gulf of Carpentaria, and Wei’Num Arts in Western Cape York. The exhibition highlights the connection to country, culture and family expressed by the artists, through works completed during the recent KickArts Indigenous Residential Printmaking Program in Cairns. Working with master printmaker Dian Darmansjah, the artists received invaluable skils development in relief and intaglio printmaking techniques – accessing studios at TAFE Queensland North.
