Artist in Residence program

Providing professional development opportunities for artists is a key objective for Dumbunji Press. Through the Artist in Residence program, artists can extend their arts practice by learning new printmaking mediums and techniques over a continuous period in the studio, collaborating with the Djumbunji Press professional printmaking staff.

Participating artists who have completed residencies at Djumbunji Press include Napolean Oui, Joel Sam and Brian Robinson. In May 2010, the renowned New Zealand-based Niuean artist John Pule was Djumbunji’s first international artist in residence. Earlier in 2010 JCU students completed a series of workshops as a part of their Creative Industries study. Graduating student Ricky Beresford has since been offered and undertaken an extended 5 week residency to develop his printmaking skills working alongside Djumbunji Press Printmaker Elizabeth Hunter.
